So nearly everyone that I work with runs. There is always much discussion of running. "Did you run today?" "How far did you run?" "Why don't you run in this race with us?"
Nearly two years ago, E and I started a running program. We got up to running a couple of miles nearly every day, but then I started teaching small children, getting sick all the time as a result there of, and the Oregon winter hit. Now I am a big time shirker when it comes to physical activity, so soon we were back to sitting on our butts watching television during our downtime.
Now that real life has started, with normal jobs, etc…, there is simply no excuse for not getting regular exercise, especially with the year round nice weather here. Two weeks ago E and I started the couch to 5K running program. The first week was not so bad. Unfortunately, the second week got displaced by entertaining various out of town guests, which easily led to shirking. Not wanting to either blow the whole program or go back to week one, we went straight for week two yesterday.
I'd like to say it went okay, but during the second run/walk cycle, E (completely accidentally) tried to get me to start running after only one minute of walking, rather than two. I sort of smacked him on the arm and yelled a little bit. Perhaps I shouldn't have skipped a week, huh? My husband is the best however, because despite my bad behavior he still told me that I did a good job.
