I recently joined the second sock syndrome swap for the second time. I’m feeling a bit guilty about it because I haven’t finished the sock from the first swap. I feel really bad about it because I LOVE the sock that I got, I’ve just been caught up in things like sock wars, holiday knitting, and now this. I’m knitting a mommy snug in debblie bliss cashmerino aran (denim) for one of my bestest friends. Because we no longer get to see each other every day, this is great way for me to support her during her pregnancy. I started the sweater on December 15, so I think I’m making pretty good progress. (The sweater is very long, so is difficult to photograph, especially when it is dark so very early these days.)

Here’s the questionaire for the second sock syndrome swap.
1. What are you favorite sock yarns?
I really love sock yarn. I never had a yarn stash before I started knitting socks back in April. Now I do. I especially love slightly thicker sock yarns, like Mountain Colors Bearfoot, socks that rock medium weight, etc. because I am a somewhat instant gratification knitter. I’m really wanting to knit the second sock from the first SSSS, because it is knit with koigu and the first sock feels sooo soft. I love soft yarn.
2. What are your least favorite sock yarns? Anything you just cannot use?
While I love the look of self-striping yarn, I find that alot of it feels kind of plasticky. I don’t like plasticky yarn.
3. What method do you prefer to use (DPN’s, 2 circs, 1 circ, etc.)
I’ve only knit on 2 circs, because I get ladders with DPN’s and I’ve been afraid of getting lots of kinks in my needle cables if I do magic loop. Are kinks a problem with this technique? So far, I’ve been able to adapt every pattern I’ve come across for 2 circs even if its written for something else, however, so feel free to knit the sock/select a pattern using whatever approach works best for you.
4. Is there any method that you cannot use?
As I said before, DPNs give me ladders, but if you have tips on avoiding these, feel free to convert me.
5. What are you favorite colors?
I love color. Send me orange, puke green, whatever you want, I’ll probably like it.
6. Are you a beginner, intermediate, or more advanced sock knitter?
I would say advanced intermediate. I’ve knit maybe ten pairs of socks.
7. Any other info you want to share (such as other likes, dislikes, hobbies, etc)?
My other hobbies include reading, baking, and most recently, a bit of sewing. Evan gave me a sewing machine last year for Christmas. I’ve used it to sew two bags. so far. My latest bag was a gift for my wonderful step-sister, Jenn. You can check it out on her blog. (She’s also a knitter.)
8. Last, but not least, what are your sock measurements?
I have a size 7 1/2 wide foot, but typically the average woman’s sock fits my foot just fine. Detailed measurements:
foot circumfrence: 9 1/8 inches
total foot length: 9 1/2 inches
I’m sure that I’ll love whatever you pick. Just pick something you’d like to try knitting and I’m sure to be pleased.
That cat looks very intent on getting that yarn
First, I admit, I am not only unable to knit but the one time I tried I think I broke a thumb or something. But your project is AMAZING. Like, “HOW IN THE WORLD DOES SHE DO THAT?!”
You are so talented!
